Based on the device class, network specifications (e.g. bandwidth) and user rights, the instant3Dhub will identify a suitable visualization method. For a purely client-based visualization, the required data are transferred to the respective end device as progressively as possible and rendered there directly with the local GPU. If the system or the user chooses an optional server-based or even hybrid visualization, the rendering service is required.
The rendering service Pixi exposes a RESTful API providing the basic functionality of a renderer over a network. It takes input from the client, such as camera information, and generates an output, typically pixel data, which is transmitted back to the client. Pixi will find a suitable compression method according to the requested mime-type and data format.
